Lyle has spent most of his life around, in, and on the water despite originally being born in Saskatchewan.  Currently he is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Memorial University of Newfoundland where he has spent the last 20 years focusing on digital and social media education. 


Prior to that he had his own company training recreational and technical scuba diving instructors through the Caribbean, New Zealand, and the South Pacific for 20 years. 


His sailing began in the late 1980s with a Hunter 32 on the Hudson River in New York and he has experience on a number of vessels, both monohull and catamarans ranging up to 51 feet in length.  He has completed a number of training course with a variety of agencies including the International Sail and Power Academy (ISPA) with which he currently holds an Instructor Evaluator Rating,  Canada Power & Sail Squadron (CPS), American Sailing Association (ASA), and Sail Canada. 


In addition, he also holds a Small Vessel Operator Proficiency Certificate with Transport Canada and is an ROC(M) Recognized Examiner with CPS.
